The Final Kirby-Girl Wedding

The wedding is over, and it went off perfectly. The bride and groom are relaxing at an isolated resort in Kona, Hawaii and I am left to muddle through piles of laundry and memories. We're slowly making our way back to normal around here, but it's clear that the boys are having "fun withdrawal" and I'm having that feeling that I get whenever someone I'm close to gets married - that whole "This-chapter-of-our-life-has-ended" feeling that will soon give way to the "Now-let's-get-on-with-the-good-stuff!" feeling (like couples' vacations, holidays with a new brother-in-law, just expanding the family in general).
My sister was radiant. I cannot remember seeing her look so at peace any other time. She looked like a woman fulfilled. The couple clearly put each other at ease. The wedding mass was the most beautiful wedding mass I've ever attended (including my own); spiritually moving and a constant reminder of Christ's presence in the sacrament of marriage.
I loved getting to see my sister's friends from the different parts of her life all come together. She has done a lot, and lived in many different places. There were friends from each part of her life there (by the way, we counted at least 16 attorneys in the room!), along with a lot of family representing both the bride and the groom. The wedding party was a fun, genuine group of people and we really enjoyed each other's company throughout the event. What really made the event even more special was watching our boys enjoy themselves so much. They both danced almost every song. Kirby struck up a special friendship with Gracie, Bob's 5 year-old niece who was the flower girl. They were inseparable at the reception. At one point, while I was talking to Gracie's father, they walked up hand in hand and she said, "Daddy, we're pretending we're married and we just had our first dance!" Her statement was met by an enthusiastic smile and nod from Kirby, and groans from her father and me. Seriously, if I could bottle this little girl and save her for my son until he's about 30, I would. She was perfect in every way - a reflection of a wonderful family. I'm thankful that my sister is inheriting a new family, and after meeting all of the Lyions clan, I know that she will never want for love from them.
Below are some pictures, unfortunately they are all out of order. I still haven't figured out a good way to load multiple photos onto my blog. Enjoy!

All the practicing for the Chicken Dance really paid off!

A rare moment when Kirby was not on the dance floor.

The limo stopped at Red Rocks to give the out-of-towners
a scenic photo op. Heather, Beth and I took the chance to get
a photo of our own.
