Today was a challenge. It was a good day overall, but I think that both Stephen and I would chalk it up as a parenting "challenge". Nothing big or really out of the ordinary, just one of those days where you feel like all you do is tell your kids, "I said no!". You know, one kid cries himself to sleep at nap, and the other cries himself to sleep at bedtime. This is what "keeping it real" is all about. Believe it or not, I'd way rather be dealing with this than dealing with trigraphs in my Intensive Literacy Assessment class. But you know what kills me? It's kids' timing. Tonight, while Connor is throwing a fit to Stephen about having to put on a pull-up to go to bed, Kirby says:
"Mom, do your legs hurt when you use your shaver?"
Me (absentmindedly): "I don't know...sometimes."
Kirby: "Oh - you should try the Save-A-Blade."
Me (surprised, but starting to pay attention): "Really, why?"
Kirby: "Because, it's like shaving with a brand new razor every time."
Me: "Oh - how do you know that?"
Kirby: "Because Mom, I saw it on commercial. It can save you hundreds of dollars every year, and your legs won't hurt anymore."
Me: "Okay Kirby, maybe I'll give it a try - now get into bed."
Then - wouldn't you know it, 10 minutes later, after I've settled Connor down and am kissing Kirby goodnight, I ask him again (just because I'm amused that he knows so much about this product) "What was that razor you wanted me to try?" Kirby replied, "the Save-A-Blade Mom, and you can get $50 of stuff for only $19.99".
Okay. This is why I've tried to shelter our kids from channels with commercials. Any questions?

Hahahahahahaha! Loving it! When I told Logan that I hate watching commercials, she replied, "But they tell us about all the things we need." Hmmm...advertising works apparently!
