Trying to Calm Down

At the behest of my dad (who reminded me that my last post was over a month ago, and it was about toilet paper) and my mother-in-law, who live on opposite coasts and rely on this blog as a way of keeping up with our family, I'm finally sitting down and attempting to break my dry spell.

Five weeks have passed, and so very much has happened, that I wouldn't know where to begin. Here's a brief recap:

1) Gramma & Pop-pop visited
2) Friends from NJ (the Samahas) came for a week
3)Grandpa came from CA to celebrate Ollie's 1st b-day and Easter
4) Finished on-line class
5) Turned in the equivalent of master's portfolio to complete my program
6) Finished student-teaching
7) Went to Vegas with Husband, Lorie & Joe, and met in-laws there (very fun!)
8)Finished final class
9) LOOKING FOR A JOB

The last entry there is the big one. I am looking for a job. I've had my application out to 4 districts for over a month now, and only one interview. Because of the economy (aren't you just sick of hearing that phrase?), there aren't a whole lot of people leaving teaching jobs, and a lot of schools are cutting positions. I'm told not to worry, that a lot of jobs will likely be posted this summer. In the meantime, I'm praying, trying to keep a positive attitude, and enjoying some down time. Well, we haven't really gotten to the "down time" part yet, but it is nice to know I don't have any assignments or classes hanging over my head.

About three times daily I get a momentary sick feeling in my stomach and a fleeting sense of anxiety as I think to myself "Crap! What am I supposed to be doing right now? I know I have something to do!" - then realize that it's just become habit for me to do that. I think I need to drink a little more tea and listen to a little more Enya for awhile!

Oh, I'm glad you are back. Your mother in law and father aren't the only ones that missed you while you were gone!

Bravo to you for finishing your courses. I just know something is going to come along. And yes, I do think you need some relaxation time. I can't believe all you have been doing! It's amazing.

Enjoy the summer!

You are amazing. Truly. I worked from 10-3:45 yesterday and was exhausted when I was done. That is scary! I am THAT lazy. I can't imagine how you have accomplished all that you have. Good work, my dear. As for the job...the people who told you they come up in the summer are soooo right. I know it would be ideal to have that contract signed and have a couple of months to plan, but it rarely works out that way. Use this time to take it easy and enjoy your time with your family. You have no work or school burdens right now. That won't last forever, so embrace it! Love you!!! Call me during this little bit of downtime.
