Happy Father's Day

Here's what our Father's Day looked like:

The whole family was over, so Megan and Ollie took the
opportunity to model the Moby for new mommy Heather and Baby Keenan

Connor's much-celebrated snow cone machine required the input
of 5 dads. Ultimately it was the Patriarch - my dad - who figured it out!

Connor blows out his 4 candles on the most thrown-together cake
I've ever made (I hope he doesn't read this until he understands how busy
and tired I've been over the past week!)

New Dad Bob is already an expert burper.

Isn't this a beautiful little family?
I promised my sister I would post a nice photo of her
(one that doesn't showcase the fact that she just completed
two hours of hard pushing)

Kirby, exhausted from too much time on the
Slip 'n Slide, observes an intense game of Washers

The scene on the patio. My dad was here to celebrate Father's Day
with us for the first time in years. It was so good to have him here!

Husband's expert form.

Not that this day has anything to do with me, but if I could choose how to spend Father's Day, I wouldn't do it any other way. Beautiful weather and lots of family - all but one of my favorite dads (if my father-in-law would have been there, then the team would have been complete!). I'm so glad that our kids got to be around such a strong group of men.

Happy Father's Day....
  • to my husband, who makes life an adventure for all of us, and who is exactly the kind of father I hope our boys grow up to be
  • to my dad, who has always had faith in me and doesn't hesitate to make it public knowledge (you should see him at one of my gigs!)
  • to my father-in-law who gave me the push I needed to go back to school, and who raised one heck of a son
  • to my uncle, but he's not an old uncle, he's a cool uncle (inside joke), who is fun and knows how to bring out the wee sliver of competitiveness that I have
  • to my brothers-in-law who love my sisters with complete devotion, and who gave me two beautiful nephews to adore for the rest of my life
I'm also thinking today of my Grandpa Kirby, who is the most interesting person I've ever known, my Grandpa Keenan, of whom I only have three memories but they are vivid, and of Husbands grandfathers, whom I wish I could have known. All are in my prayers.
