Family Matters
The past week brought a lot of family time for us. My dad was in town for a visit so it was a good excuse for us to get everyone together (not that we've ever needed much of an excuse!). Let me just start by saying that I have the two most adorable little nephews. Unfortunately, little Baby Keenan has not gotten much press in the blog because I have had camera issues for the past couple of months! He is the sweetest, most smiling baby I have ever encountered - and that is not just me being a proud auntie. This kid is happy! (Now that I write that, I realize the photos I've chosen to post do not actually show this aspect of his personality)
Auntie Heather watched all of the boys while I ran Dad and all of the guys down to the Great American Beer Festival last Friday night. Each time I called to check on something or ask a question, it sounded like a complete melee. She did well, though I think she may be reconsidering having 4 kids, considering our propensity to pop out all boys in this family! The photo above is how I found them when I got home. Yes, Connor has a violin (I'll have to post on that sometime).
The girls, including my mom and my cousin Bunny all got together for pizza, wine, gabbing, a birthday cake for Lori, and more gabbing. We had a great night. One of the highlights was watching Keenan sit in his Bumbo. He looked like a little man in a mini-recliner, just waiting for his cold beverage to be delivered.
Dad got us all together for dinner at Megan and Nick's the last night he was here. He really wanted to get a photo of him with his four grandsons, to use as a Christmas card. Getting all four of the boys to look at the camera at the same time (and have a happy demeanor) was a bit like herding cats. Too bad my camera is on the fritz, and I wasn't able to see the LCD screen to see just how terrible the pictures were that I was taking! I hope my sisters got better images, because mine turned out very grainy.
I love this picture. Dad operated on Connor's little blender to see if he could get the motor working. The boys were very fascinated with the inner workings of the blender, and of course had all kinds of advice for Grandpa on how he could make it go again. Too bad the motor was completely burned out. Connor learned a lesson the hard way: Rocks do not go in little blenders! (actually, I don't think I want rocks in my big blender for that matter!)
I had a really nice day with Dad on Monday - out to lunch, then shopping at Costco. He also helped me choose and purchase our new water heater. That's right! We get to install a new water heater and a new dishwasher during the coming week! Don't you just love it when multiple appliances go out at once? Ahhhh....the joys of homeownership!
See you in December Grandpa!!!

I despise replacing and repairing appliances. I always think, "They really should make these things to last longer!" And they really should!
I was sorry to hear about you friend's death in your last post. So tragic. I can't wrap my head around that kind of unhappiness, and I am sorry that anyone has to experience it.
Please give my love the Shane and Shantel when you see them. Karen, too. I am thinking of them every day.
