This post is dedicated to the few people who have kept logging on for the past couple of weeks, only to find that I have not updated anything. I really don't know what kind of excuse to use...I certainly don't have a good one. I spend so much time on my computer, that you'd think I could just take 10 minutes out of my day to write a little blub. However, over the past few weeks as I began to sink lower and lower into the quicksand of school responsibilities, I lost my creative juices. Honestly, I've been so pooped at the end of every day, that it's all I can do to make myself write out a list of what needs to be done the following day. Fortunately, I have my amazing support team to thank for pulling me out of the mire.
I love the African proverb about it taking "a village" to raise a child. Well let me tell you, it is certainly taking a village to get a master's degree! First of all, there is Stephen (aka Husband), who drops off or picks up from school depending upon what is needed, cleans the kitchen, folds the laundry, does the grocery shopping and now is insisting on taking over the bills (thank you, thank you, thank you!), he also reminds me to go to bed and "get a good night's sleep"; then there is my mom who is now staying with us Monday - Thursday of every week to help with the chauffeuring and babysitting. She lets me walk down to her room and cry if I need to, and her prayers are worth gold. There is Lorie (my Aunt by marriage, technically, but really a BFF) who was originally slated to watch Connor, but is helping now by filling in the childcare gaps and taking over all family party planning (something that I really hate to give up!); my sister Megan helps me with school requirements, finding me a student to work with for one of my classes and explaining concepts that still feel over my head; my sister Heather and quasi-sister Beth call frequently just to "check up" on me, offer support, and babysitting; my Dad helps watch the boys when he is in town, and so do my in-laws; my mother-in-law worries from afar and is a continual source of support...sometimes it's a bad thing to start listing people, in case you forget someone and they get hurt feelings...but, you get the idea. Oh! Then there's also my amazing group of girlfriends here, who offer babysitting, coffee, study time, and many times, a shoulder to whine on. Where, oh where would I be without all of these people?
I'm officially ending week 4 of this semester...only about 11 more to go. I can do this!
Man, oh man! What a boring post! I will try to pull it together here and get things flowing again. Thanks for sticking with me. I'll try to be back tomorrow sometime!
