Agita

Don't know what that title means? My mother-in-law taught me that East Coast term, and I love it. It's a noun meaning heartburn; indigestion or agitation;anxiety. It just really cuts to the quick. And it really sums up my state right now.

Today my online course started. Tomorrow my other in-person class starts. Therefore, for the next three weeks I will be taking three classes (9 graduate credit hours). I'm not saying this so that anybody will feel sorry for me, I'm just trying to wrap my head around it. In case some of you may be wondering what kind of time commitment this is - taking three extremely intense, abbreviated courses at the same time - here is how one of my professors put it:

Wondering how much time you should be spending in this online class???
This is a 2 credit hour course...thus, you should expect to spend "in class" -- 2 hours for 15 weeks/sessions = 30 hours,
plus for every hour in class, you should spend 3 hours reading and preparing (30 X 3) = 90 hours.

Thus, in the whole course, you should expect to spend 90 + 30 hours = 120 total hours. Divided into 4 weeks...approximately 30 hours per week.

Now, if you are thinking, what was I thinking taking multiple classes at the same time, it all makes sense why you are tired, right??

So...based on this formula, that means I should spend approximately 45 hours per week for my 3 credit course, and 60 hours per week for my 4 credit course. Okay, that's 135 hours per week I'm expected to put into these courses. Does anybody else see a problem with this?

YES! I AM THINKING, "WHAT WAS I THINKING?" I AM THINKING, "I AM CRAZY!" I AM THINKING, "GET ME TO JULY 7TH!" I AM THINKING, "GET ME TO THE BEACH!" I AM THINKING, "GET ME A COCKTAIL!"(but not until July 7th).
