As I was shopping yesterday, I found spiritual inspiration in the most unlikely of places - the home furnishing department of Gordman's (a discount store). Worn down from a week of juggling student teaching, classes, assignments and sick kids I was walking past and just happened to look up in time to see a wall hanging that said:
Sometimes God calms the raging storm.
Other times he lets the storm rage...
And calms the child.
Oh how the storm has been raging for the past week! But you know what? It's interesting to look back and see the ways that God will calm his children. He sent me a mom who has given quite a bit of her time to taking care of our sick kids. He gave me a husband who rearranged his schedule to be home with the boys part of the time; who cooked, cleaned and landscaped his little hiney off for the past week. He sent me to a school where the people I work with are flexible, caring and supportive of me taking time off to be with sick kiddos, and He's sending us Stephen's parents at the end of the week, to give us a change in pace and some fun.
And did I mention the two fabulous souls we were fortunate enough to have for our first Spring dinner party? My cousin Bunny and my dear friend Shayne - two peas in a pod, though they had never met. Thanks to their flu shots, we actually got to have some company here in the sick den, and we had a wonderful time Saturday night. Want more good news? Kirby has pneumonia. That's right, it's good news because it's treatable with an antibiotic. We're on the mend in this house!

I'm jealous of your dinner party. Wish I could have been there, and I would have come--even without a flu shot. Your company is worth the risk any day. I am wishing wellness for all of you. xoxo
