Our Week With the Pigs
...Guinea Pigs, that is! We spent the past week watching the preschool guinea pigs, Butterscotch and Chocolate while Connor's school was closed for a teacher inservice. This was a definite eye opener for me. I had previously been ready to run right out and get one of these furry little critters. Now, after a week of dealing with cedar shavings flying out of the cage and onto my carpet, and picking up little "tootsie rolls" dropped from the oblivious pigs' behinds while they exercise in my family room, I'm thinking maybe not. Regardless of where I now stand on cavy possession, it was a special week for Connor, who got to be in charge of something (they are his class guinea pigs, after all and he came home determined to personally "scoop their poop" - a plan that I quickly laid to rest). Both the boys are sad to see them go, and I have to say I will miss the sweet little things myself. They're really quite personable and cuddly.

I don't remember Guinea pigs being so big, are you taking them back to school in a horse trailer?
You are a super nice mom for keeping those critters for a week. Logan is begging for another pet, and I am all full up with the dog. No guinea pigs, hamsters, cats, not even fish! "But mom, I'll take care of them..." Yeah, right. I gotta go feed the dog now.
