What If...

What if we had nowhere important to be on a Saturday?
What if we could enjoy a cocktail on a sunny patio in the middle of the day (in December!)?
What if we could split a cheeseburger and enjoy a conversation without being interrupted?
What if we could stroll through a hip neighborhood, stopping whenever we felt like it?
What if we could afford to shop at Whole Foods all the time?
What if we could walk hand in hand in the late afternoon sipping lattes?

While Husband and I enjoyed all of the above activities yesterday, our good friend, "Auntie" Beth was baking, decorating, and delivering Christmas cookies with the boys. They had a great - but exhausting day. And we had a fun and relaxing day with no demands. As we walked back to the car after our day out together, I asked Husband, "Do you think this is what it's like -"

"- to be DINKS?" he finished my sentence.

"Yeah", I replied.

"Yeah, I do" He responded.

We laughed at the fact that we had been thinking the same thing at the same time. Of course, I realize we were romanticizing the whole thing, but it was fun to play "DINK" (double-income-no-kids) for the day (the grass always looks greener, doesn't it?). We agreed that we wouldn't trade where we are right now for anything. I guess that's the key to happiness...loving where you are, when you're there, no matter what that may look like at the time.
